Max Kruse wins Bundesliga Player of the Month for March 2019

The 31-year-old SV Werder Bremen player Max Kruse has been awarded the Bundesliga Player of the month for March 2019 by the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) in cooperation with EA SPORTS FIFA 19.

Werder Bremen captain Max Kruse notching six goals in four games over the course of Matchdays 24-27. He has also contributed three assists. It is a stunning improvement for Kruse, who had scored four times in 23 appearances prior to his March heroics.

The striker´s efforts have seen SV Werder Bremen go unbeaten this past month, picking up 10 out of a possible 12 points and moving into the league’s European places in the process.

Kruse took the award ahead of other nominees including FC Bayern München player Robert Lewandowski and James Rodriguez, Filip Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt, Milot Rashica from SV Werder Bremen and the RB Leipzig player Marcel Halstenberg.

Earlier this week, VfB Stuttgart´s Ozan Kabak won the ‘Rookie Award’ for March, which is presented jointly by Bundesliga and TAG Heuer on a monthly basis to the best up-and-coming Bundesliga player.

Player Of The Month Award:

Six Bundesliga players are nominated each month, having previously been assessed using objective criteria. The basis will be the official DFL match data (including goals, assists and tackles won) as collected for each Bundesliga match by the DFL subsidiary Sportec Solutions. One of the six players nominated on the basis of match data will be voted ‘Player of the Month’. The decision will be made by the team captains of the 18 Bundesliga clubs (30 percent of the vote), a selected expert panel of Bundesliga legends and media representatives (also 30 percent of the vote) whilst Bundesliga fans will have the biggest share of the vote (40 percent) by entering their votes directly on the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 website (bundesligapotm.easports.com/en).
